Teacher Profile

Julie Schulte-King

What is your view on teaching?

Students should talk more than the teacher. It’s the teacher’s responsibility to guide students and point out to them language and grammar errors. It’s essential that teachers provide a safe environment for students to communicate in. Also, let’s get excited about grammar!

How was your first week teaching at AOI?

Exciting & promising.

What made you decide to teach ESL?

I love learning languages and I think communication is a unique experience for every individual; it’s wonderful to facilitate communication. Also, it’s such a joy to have the opportunity to interact with people from so many different cultures on a daily basis. And have I mentioned I am serious about grammar?

What are your hopes and expectations of teaching at AOI?

My hopes and expectations are that students feel confident that they’re improving and are excited about language learning; that I embarrass myself only when necessary and that students never say “She like it” again.

Travels:

Russia to study, Czech Republic for a year, Hungary, Turkey, Germany, Austria, England, to be continued…

Kimberly Gunby (ESL Instructor)

Hello, my name is Kimberly Gunby, and I teach ESL at Torrance Campus.

Sam Atherton (Business English Instructor)

“In today’s ever competitive business community the future manager must, have out of necessity, have gained, in school or work experience, that edge that distinguished him or her from other similarly situated individuals.

We, at AOI College, strive to give the full-time student or working student that edge and sharpness to ready them for the competitive business environment. They gain a solid foundation of skills and knowledge for today’s rapidly changing business environment.

This is performed by a professional business manager and director of corporations with teaches from experience.

This work experience is further supplemented by case studies, various readings to further enrich their learning experience at AOI.”

Jae Park (Director of Academics)

Mr. Jae Park started working at AOI about 5 month ago. He loves everything about AOI, especially its friendly staffs, teachers who are eager to listen, help, and teach.  Jae thinks the best thing about AOI is the students who are from all over the world and it is a very good opportunity to meet many students from different cultural backgrounds at AOI. He has been traveling all over the world since he was a child because of his father’s job.He also has taught in Korea before, and now as Academic Director at AOI. In the near future, Jae wants to achieve the specific goals for AOI students. He wants to name the goal as “Live English Skills for AOI students.”

He will focus on working for the students’ conversation skills also that students who study at AOI will have confidence in speaking, and will adjust to American culture faster than anyone else. Finally, Jae wants to tell students to “Have Fun and Study Hard”
